Emerging talent, international benchmarks and industry leaders support the closing of Gran Canaria Swim Week

On Saturday, the runway — the only one of its kind in Europe — welcomed the proposals of emerging talents Sirago from Gran Canaria, Sandra Jaurrieta from Gran Canaria, Gianluca Urraso from Gran Canaria and Lislo from Gran Canaria. They were followed by Banana Moon from Monaco, Pomeline from La Palma, Carlos SanJuan from Gran Canaria, Women’s Secret from Madrid, Miss Bikini from Italy and Volcano Blood from Gran Canaria, who successfully brought to a close an edition marked by the warm reception of the public and the specialised press.

This closing day featured a notable presence of celebrities in the front row, led by renowned international fashion influencer Leonie Hanne and Canarian supermodel and entrepreneur Ariadne Artiles, who once again acted as one of the great ambassadors of fashion from her homeland. The front row also brought together a relevant group of well-known faces and content creators who shared the event with their digital communities, including Moisés Rivero, José León, Rassul Diallo, Gema Betancor, Minerva Hers and Marta Ibrahim, as well as journalist and content creator Paula Viana.

On the runway, Canarian model Aída Artiles walked before a large group of figures from the institutional, business and fashion sectors who gathered for this final day. Institutional support for local design was reflected in the attendance of the President of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, and the Councillor for Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, who witnessed the proposals presented on the last day.

The event was also confirmed as a key meeting point for professionals from the industry and the communications sector. Attendees included Asier Labarga, director of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid; Brenda Bellei, CEO of WHITE Milano; and María Eizaguirre, Director of Communication and Participation at RTVE. They were joined by renowned Spanish designers Modesto Lomba and Juan Duyos, the latter also President of the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain, together with journalist Pepa Bueno, who attended as Executive Director of ACME, reaffirming the success of the Canarian runway in projecting the sector internationally.

Fourth day of runway shows

The final day of Gran Canaria Swim Week began with a firm commitment to emerging talent, headed by Sirago. The brand, founded in 2023 and produced entirely in Gran Canaria, presented Iris, a collection that blends craftsmanship with textile experimentation. Its proposal focuses on inclusive swimwear, caftans, jackets and trousers with fluid lines, all dyed in vibrant colours, chemical-free fabrics and original floral and jungle-inspired prints.

Sandra Jaurrieta then took over. A textile artist who channels her aesthetic sensitivity through the recovery of artisanal techniques such as crochet and macramé, the designer consolidates her proposal after her debut in the 2025 edition. With Azulejos, a collection inspired by the landscape of Los Azulejos de Veneguera, she embraces the principles of slow fashion. The collection unfolds through a chromatic and structural evolution, moving from dense volcanic reds and ochres to an ethereal finale bathed in turquoise blue, incorporating accessories made with Canarian earrings and banana fibres.

Next, Italian designer based in Gran Canaria Gianluca Urraso presented VOLARE, the result of his background in haute couture and structured pattern-making. Inspired by the Mediterranean aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s, the collection reinterprets swimwear from a contemporary perspective. Made with recycled fabrics, VOLARE evokes the freedom of an Italian summer through structured cuts, clean lines and a luminous coastal palette.

Closing this block was LISLO, a brand born from a passion for fashion and the sea, committed to conscious consumption and far removed from fast fashion. With Playa y lo que surja, the brand draws inspiration from the spontaneity of the Canarian lifestyle to offer versatile garments designed to move from the sand to any sunset plan. With flattering cuts and details such as bows, the proposal combines shorts with bikinis in polka dot, striped and gingham prints over a pastel palette.

As the afternoon progressed, the runway welcomed Banana Moon with WILD SHORE. The French brand, defined by a pure summer essence, delivered a style statement full of vivid, sunny and warm colours, incorporating new textures, finishes and rhinestone details that evoke the wild energy of the sea and nature.

Pomeline, from La Palma, followed with a proposal very much in keeping with its nature: elegance, care for materials and an artisanal character. Terrae proposes a reconnection with nature through original prints, fluid silhouettes and clean lines, set against a palette of sand tones, vivid greens and floral nuances that offer versatility and freedom.

Carlos SanJuan, co-founder of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, renowned for fusing art, elegance and sensuality with international projection, presented AURA on the runway. A proposal that elevates the architecture of the body and luxury in a bold statement for the cosmopolitan woman, the collection features signature prints and his iconic metallic details, raising the garments to an artistic level.

Women’secret, the brand belonging to the Tendam group and present in more than 70 countries with nearly 800 stores, brought BEACH SUMMER CLUB. Inspired by social media trends to connect with a young and dynamic audience, the collection stands out for its fluorescent colours, shiny finishes and trend-led silhouettes, such as balconette bikinis and swimsuits with cut-out details.

The afternoon continued with Miss Bikini, the Sardinian brand that redefines beach fashion by drawing inspiration from the distinctive style of Brazil. A pioneer in the jewel bikini, the brand presented Mediterránea, a tribute to the coastal landscapes of Italy, Greece and Spain from a contemporary perspective. Through a palette of gold, bronze, sand, white and black tones, the proposal elevates swimwear with shiny finishes, jacquard fabrics, paisley prints and applications of stones and lace.

To close the final day of this edition, Volcano Blood, a swimwear brand that is a member of the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida collective and the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain, presented MIAMI BABY COLLECTION. The proposal was born from the experience of a trip to the American city and explores its aesthetic duality. The collection moves from the calm of the day to the excess of the night. It begins with a luminous first phase in pastel tones that evoke art deco and the beaches, culminating in a magnetic second stage where saturated colours and neon tones celebrate a sensual, nocturnal femininity.

The GCSW 2026 Awards

The White Milano Award, sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, went to Chacho SVNRS in recognition of the brand’s international projection. This award will also give the brand the opportunity to have its own space at White Milano, one of the most prestigious international contemporary fashion fairs, to be held next September.

The Award for Best Emerging Collection, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, was granted to Sandra Jaurrieta, highlighting the potential, vision and projection of new talents. This recognition includes a cash prize of 1,500 euros.
