Antonio Morales, President of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, reflected on this year’s event:
“This edition marks a milestone for the runway by introducing, for the first time, a dedicated code of conduct grounded in values that define our identity: sustainability, inclusion, and diversity. The entire event has revolved around these principles, reinforcing the Cabildo’s commitment to a creative, responsible, and outward-looking society.”
The President also underlined that this had been
“the most international and commercially dynamic edition of all, featuring a remarkable presence of professional buyers and strategic partnerships with benchmark institutions in the fashion world. Our emerging designers have proven themselves to be on par with major national and international brands, positioning Gran Canaria as a hub of talent, innovation, and international projection.”
Minerva Alonso, Councillor for Economic Development of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, emphasised:
“Gran Canaria has consolidated its position as the island specialising in swimwear fashion and as Europe’s leading platform in this field. This is not only because our collections capture the essence and identity of the Canary Islands, but also because we welcome leading national and international firms specialising in this sector.”
She added:
“Our goal is to continue growing and to establish ourselves not only as the leading swimwear catwalk in Europe but also as a global benchmark. The collections showcased here integrate our landscape, our culture, and our way of life. These days have been the perfect opportunity to project the talent of our designers to the world, while generating business opportunities and economic development for the island.”
The final day of Gran Canaria Swim Week welcomed celebrities Vicky Martín Berrocal and Alba Díaz Martín to ExpoMeloneras, who attended the closing runway shows. Local content creators Yaiza Mencia, Minerva Hers, and Gema Betancor also joined the event’s concluding day.
For the first time, international top model Cindy Kimberly—who has worked with renowned fashion houses and appeared on the covers of GQ, Vogue, and Elle—made her debut at Gran Canaria Swim Week, marking a defining moment in her career. Final Day: Emerging Canarian Talent in the Spotlight
The fourth and final day of runway shows at ExpoMeloneras began at 12:30 p.m. with the presentations by Sirago, Patricia Caro, MR & G Design, and Sandra Jaurrieta, shining a light on emerging talent from the Canary Islands.
Sirago, founded by Gran Canaria designer Silvia Fernández, was born from the desire to experiment with prints, fabrics, shapes, and unique materials, creating swimwear and ready-to-wear collections primarily aimed at women. Her latest collection, “Kalokairi Breeze”, is an ode to the Greek summer, entirely produced in Spain. It features blue, white, fuchsia, and orange tones fused into flattering cuts and high-quality fabrics.
Next, Patricia Caro, a Gran Canaria designer committed to social change and sustainable production, presented her proposal under the Tropical Goth aesthetic, characterised by the use of textile remnants and a visually powerful alternative approach. Her collection, “Nice Blood”, draws inspiration from the mysterious and sensual world of vampires, imagining how they might dress and which bikinis they would wear. To enrich this narrative, the designer created an exclusive print.
Following her, MR & G Design, a sustainable label founded by Gran Canaria designer Moisés Rivero, distinguished itself through its use of ecological fabrics and upcycling techniques. The collection “La Femme” is a visual manifesto dedicated to the female spirit. Dominated by patchwork and violet hues, it conveys calmness and resilience, honouring real bodies with sustainable textiles.
Sandra Jaurrieta, also from Gran Canaria, closed this block. Her passion for creativity began in her childhood in Cuba, where her grandmother taught her crochet. Two years ago, she discovered macramé, transforming her professional approach entirely. Grounded in sustainability and exclusivity, she presented “Puesta de Sol” (“Sunset”), a poetic transition from day to night. Divided into three parts—Golden Light, Fire, and Twilight—the collection offers an innovative sensory experience.
At 4:00 p.m., Pomeline took to the runway. Under the creative direction of Ana María Rodríguez, the brand has been designing since 1983 for all ages, distinguishing itself within the industry and appearing in outlets such as Vogue, as well as dressing Queen Letizia of Spain. The brand presented “Efímero” (“Ephemeral”), a mixed collection inspired by the sunsets of La Palma Island.
Mommy Loves, founded by Carlota Guillemet, followed with “Saudade”, a collection paying tribute to Portugal—its art, light, and soul. Inspired by traditional tiles, architecture, and historic landscapes, the designs evoke the sunsets of the Algarve and the greenery of the Douro Valley, inviting reflection and appreciation of detail.
At 5:00 p.m., French family brand Banana Moon showcased its collection inspired by the adventurous American girl and ranch life. Under the creative direction of Justine Flachaire, daughter of the founder, the proposal fuses western aesthetics with seaside glamour through fringes, faux-suede finishes, and embroidery that bring the cowboy spirit to the beach.
Next came Agüita Swimwear, from Gran Canaria, with a collection celebrating feminine power through the strength of the ocean. Structured around four archetypes, this oceanic narrative pays homage to women as eternal daughters of the sea—strong, free, and radiant. The collection embodies Agüita’s core values: local production in the Canary Islands, quality, and respect for the ocean.
At 6:00 p.m., San Juan, one of the founding brands of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida and the only one present in every edition, presented a new collection defined by experimentation and volume. Designed for sophisticated and sensual women, the proposal celebrated the female body through shades of volcanic grey, jade green, iris blue, and Mexicali pink.
At 7:00 p.m., Miss Bikini, a brand born in Sardinia and inspired by Brazilian culture, presented “Boho Dream”. Showcased at global events such as Milano Moda Donna, the label merges craftsmanship and luxury through its iconic jewel bikini. The new collection combines bohemian spirit and haute couture, featuring bikinis, kaftans, and versatile garments enhanced with paisley prints, crochet, and eco-raffia accessories—designed for the free woman who moves gracefully from beach to city.
At 8:00 p.m., Catalan designer Fiona Ferrer, an international figure who bridges creativity, entrepreneurship, and lifestyle, unveiled her new collection. Leading her brand FFL, she collaborates globally through projects such as the FFL x PEANUTS licence. The collection merges her multicultural heritage with local artistry, incorporating fabrics from Teixits Riera (Mallorca), handcrafted bags from Colombia, and leather goods from Elche. A sophisticated proposal celebrating the dialogue between tradition and globalisation.
Finally, at 9:00 p.m., Gran Canaria brand Maldito Sweet, known for turning each bikini into a statement of authenticity, closed the event. Its founder, trained in Milan and London, created the label at the age of 21, blending rebellion and sweetness into designs celebrating real bodies. The collection “Maldito Cuento de Hadas” (“Damned Fairy Tale”) reimagines fantasy through metal-ring details and vivid colours—crafted for freedom, self-acceptance, and the power to write one’s own story.
This final day, marked by strong local participation, confirmed that the Canary Islands are a vibrant hub of creativity, quality, and innovation with clear international projection.
