The Cabildo provides 46,000 euros on financial aids to 10 brands of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida for strengthening their promotion

The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has provided 46,000 euros on financial aids to 10 brands of Gran Canaria Moda Cálida and fashion sector to fund: the assistance to fairs and runway shows outside the Archipelago, the realization of commemorative events, the brand image empowerment, and the advertising in catalogues with the aim to reinforce their promotion.



Councillor Minerva Alonso explained that that call of brands of the islander Governmen t of Industry and Commerce aimed to promote the commercialization of the Grancanarian companies of fashion, tailoring, and accessories. She also specified that the sum came to 65,000 euros, a threefold increase compared to 2017.


Alonso said that the Cabildo had increased progressively that sum, which had been 13,000 euros in 2015 to revitalize the economy through the public sector. She detailed that this growth had borne fruit. During the last three, years 25 companies had been created and the points of sales had increased by 66 per cent in the Island. 


Aids between 10,500 and 835 euros


The designer Aurelia Gil has obtained 8,000 euros to realize the commemorative fashion show for her 15 years of activity and another 2,500 euros to develop her brand image, while José García Costuras has received an aid of 8,500 euros for his project ‘La mirada entre costuras’, an exposition that looks over the creative’s last 25 years of profession.


For its part, the Cabildo has granted 7,300 euros to No Work Team to develop ‘No Work Team USA’ project, and to Palmas another 7,000 euros to attend Madrid Bridal Week 2018 fashion show. 


The Savia de Oro brand has received 4,500 euros to cover its presence at the 2018 Paris International Fair. Gonzales received at the ‘Salon International de la Lingerie’, in Paris, while Ogadenia Couture got 1,700 euros for its project ‘Impulso del sector textil moda’ to develop its brand image and to attend events, such as fairs and runway shows.


Furthermore, LadyBug’s Cris, MiMenina, and It Child will have each other a 835 euro grant to finance its brand’s presence in national and international fashion catalogues.
